RE: Having trouble justifying costs

Lets not get off on why we dislike/like Hotels & Motels, we already have a thread on that.
Thanks, :)

RE: Fiber glassing over top windows in older RT 190 Independent

You said you cover it with a tarp. Is the tarp breathable, if not I wonder if that has something to do with it. I would suggest not covering the van with anything that doesn't breath.

RE: Is 12 feet too far to run cable for a 2nd house battery?

For the best performance you will want to match your batteries as close as possible. Replacing the older battery, with the exact same battery, age, size, etc. as the new one would be ideal. Next best situation is to match size, type, and brand if possible. Never mix the type of battery, such as an AGM, and a flooded lead acid battery.
There are a couple good articles here on my web site that you should read. http://myroadtrek.homestead.com/Electrical.html
From Bill Darden's FAQ's
"To prevent charging problems when connecting batteries in series or series-parallel, do not mix old and new batteries, ones of different capacities or types. Mixing old batteries with new batteries is like mixing old milk with new milk--soon you have nothing but old milk. The weakest or smallest capacity battery (or cell) connected in series or series-parallel will overdischarge and overcharge, which will eventually cause a premature failure. If replacing the weakest batteries occurs, "preconditioning" the new batteries is recommended by charging and discharging several cycles. If discharging the batteries unevenly or use of non-identical batteries has to occur, then use an isolated multi-bank charger, single bank charger with an external diode isolator (adjusted for the voltage loss), multiple chargers, or combiner to recharge the batteries all at the same time or recharge each battery separately. Batteries that will not produce at least 80% of their rated amp hour capacity are considered to be bad and should be replaced. Historically once a battery will not produce 80% of it's rated capacity, the failure rate goes up exponentially".

I think this State Park has electric, and is about 10 miles away.

RE: replacement macerator pump hose on Roadtrek

Strange, I was accessing the forum to complain about the hose on my 2007 RT 210P. It has a small crack in it as of last month. I was going to just cut it and splice it with a barbed coupler and clamps. Lo and behold a thread on waste hose right there at the top!
Problem here in Vegas is that Roadtrek will not drop ship stuff direct to owner and to get warranty service I have to go back to dealer in Orange County (McMahons). Not a viable option with gas prices the way they are--might just go buy some replacement hose that is more flexible and sturdy.....
GC
You can order it through a dealer, and have it drop shipped to you from Rt, but you have to give them you SS no. at least it use to be that way. You can also have the dealer order it from Rt, and then send it to you.

I think the Rt one is a custom part, not positive though.

It has 70,000 on it not 7,000 I meant to change that when I edited the post. The op had it at 7,000 by mistake.

Roadtrek got a batch of bad hoses, have it replaced under warranty.

RE: MPG vs Speed

23mpg, It think you are pulling our leg. You need to get a new calculator.
Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge people without doing some research. It's very common for Sprinter Class B's to get 23mph.

RE: Our turn--what's it worth

One side the running boards are poorly repainted, other side has minor damage, simple fiberglass repair and paint needed.
The running boards, and other ground effects are ABS plastic, but can be welded if they are just cracks.
It sounds like he was boon docking a lot, or living full time in it. The 400 hours on the generator is probably better than only a few. Might be time for an oil, and air filter change though.

RE: My DH won't turn over the wheel

Excuse me, deerone. I do not agree that a woman should trust her husband's judgement more than her own judgement. I don't think a woman let her husband make her decisions for her, either, and it should be her decision if she wants to drive. Isn't equality in marriage the latest fad?
I think someone was fishing, and you took the bait.

RE: Problems with AC compressor when running generator

yes, adjust the altitude setting on the generator to 5,000'.
Look in the owners manual for how to do this. If that doesn't solve the problem, and the voltage is good I suggest having it looked at under warranty. I'm at 3,000' and have no problems.

RE: Problems with AC compressor when running generator

Buy a voltage tester that plugs into an AC plug, and check to see that you are getting at least 110 volts from the generator. I have my Microlite set to put out 118 volts while my a/c is running. If not your gennie probably needs to be adjusted. Low voltage can damage the a/c.
